I haven't really done much in terms of art in the past couple of years except for the odd doodling I do when I'm in office meetings. However, that changed when I got my iPad.
I got it primarily for reading books and to have a better web surfing experience on the couch (so that I didn't have to turn on my laptop). When I got it, I found a lot of uses for it in the office as well.
Recently, I tried using it for drawing and doing digital paintings. It's a bit different using your fingers instead of a pen or stylus to draw. However, I felt like that with practice, I can probably turn out something decent.
Since I've been wanting to draw something new to use as my profile pic on Facebook, I sat down and started drawing something with the aim to have something nice in the end. I was actually very happy with the outcome, considering that I haven't really finished something art-wise for a long time. I promptly started drawing another piece but this time for my wife.
I'm starting to get used to the differences now and I'm actually learning other things that I know I should've learned while using Painter or Photoshop on the PC but didn't because I was stuck in my old ways. With the iPad, my old techniques were unavailable to me and so I was forced to learn new techniques.
It's so cool. I think I'm going to start uploading more stuff on DeviantArt again.
